Birthday present (2)

A good friend of mine, Benu, sent me birthday present(s) from chicago:

1. The OC t-shirt
He went to newpoert beach, CA, last month. We were supposed to go there on my bday, but shit happened. I had to cancel my trip, but i went to bali instead. That's close *maksa*
2. Newport Beach postcard
It's enough to make this place a die die must go. hehe.. Thanks to the OC tv series by the way.
3. Peets coffee, 2x@247 grams
Recommended by Oprah. The coffee shop is just couple blocks away from Benu's apartment. Cool. Too bad he's not a coffee person :P Anyway now i can have another decent coffee every morning. It's not instant coffee like n**c**e, so i need to work extra on my morning coffee.
4. Peets coffee's tumbler
Just what i need to replace my old good-day-moccacino tumbler :)

It's kinda funny how i connect to this guy. I've known him since junior high, we were in OSIS (do they still have OSIS nowadays? :P). We also went to the same senior high school. But we never really friends. We just happened to know each other back then.
After finishing college separately, we met again in Gatot Subroto. My office was 2 buildings away from his.
And then after Buka Puasa Bersama in 2005, he's one of my best friend, until now. Although he's now working in one of the world's largest cheese industry Chicago, while i'm doing same old thing in Pondok Indah :P

He used to bring 1 starbucks tumbler to his office so he could fill with moccacino or cappucino from his office's coffee machine, and we share the coffee on the way back home from work. 1 tumbler for 4-5 persons :P But now i realize that it's not easy to fill the tumbler. The coffee machine (like the one i have in my office now) can only give u 1 small aqua cup every time u push the button. So Benu had to do it 3-4 times to fulfill the tumbler. Hahaha.. Good job, bro.

Well, thank u Benu. Happy Birthday to you too. I'll c u around soon, before you continue ur career path in another wonderful country may be? ;)

Betapa sulitnya perpisahan yang dilakukan sendirian.

Atau sebaliknya, tidak ada sergahan yang membuatmu berubah pikiran, tidak ada kata ‘jangan’ yang mungkin, apabila diucapkan dan ditindakkan dengan tepat, akan membuatmu menghambur kembali dan tak mau pergi lagi.

Kamu pun tersadar, itulah perpisahan paling sepi yang pernah kamu alami.

Birthday present

I used to think that celebrating birthday is no longer fun when we hit the twenty something. Now i figure that it's not entirely true. For me, i still can feel the fun. The excitement of living another year. But it's little bit different now. The excitement comes with a great fear. A fear of commitment for instance.

As my birthday present, i granted myself a big commitment on last june 4th. It scares me thinking that i'm gonna have a big responsibility for another 10 years. But i'm giving it a try.

puzzle of bali (part 2)

Mengejar matahari, atau mengejar terbenamnya matahari mungkin lebih tepat.

Berada di pulau yang banyak menyajikan pantai dalam menu wisatanya, maka mengejar terbenamnya matahari adalah aktivitas yang sangat menyenangkan. Sempet tercetus ide untuk mengejar terbitnya matahari. Tapi gw tau limit gw. Berdasarkan pengalaman di tempat dengan selisih waktu 1 jam lebih cepat dibanding Jakarta, bangun pagi adalah mukjizat. Bangun subuh untuk mengejar sunrise adalah musibah. Dan bener aja, gak pernah sekalipun kita bangun tidur sebelum matahari naik. Eh, bukan kita, tapi gw maksudnya. Soalnya gw selalu bangun paling siang :)

Jadi kami memaksimalkan waktu mengejar sunset aja. Di kuta, tanah lot, dan dreamland. Semuanya indah. Kamera tidak mampu mengabadikannya dengan lebih indah dibanding mata manusia. You should be there yourself, right?

Moment sunset yang sering diidentikkan dengan hal2 romantis, juga menimbulkan sisi2 romantis di antara kita. Sialnya, kita semua perempuan, dan pacar2 kita (bagi yang punya pacar) sedang tidak ada di sana. Akibatnya? Hmm.. Like wise man say, if you can be with the one you love, love the one you with. Foto2 bukti eksperimen mungkin nanti diupload, kalo kita udah siap dengan resiko yang mungkin timbul, berupa sanksi moral atas pelanggaran norma kesusilaan, atau simple: diputusin pacar.

puzzle of bali (part 1)

One thing i would like to have during vacation is a great partner. On my last bali trip, i had 6 great partners. Some are great at photography, some are great at bargaining (shopping in sukawati and poppies lane can be so hard my friend..), some are great at talking to our driver, some are great at reading maps, and some are great at making stupid things to laugh at :)

Anyway, i read this at the wall of hardrock cafe kuta. A quote from the Beatles.
"And in the end, the love we take is equal to the love we make"
